Perceptions of Adherence The Use of Type 2 Anti-Diabetic Drug: Preliminary Study With Health Belief Theory Model

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a disease characterized by blood sugar levels above the standard value. One of DM therapy’s managemen pharmacological therapy. The use medicines that comply with instructions one determinant factors for therapy success in type 2 patients. This study aims to explore perceptions patients regarding their medication adherence. research qualitative approachby interviewing respondents. adherence were explored among 20’s outpatient at Bali Royal Hospital, Denpasar, Bali. six constructs Health Belief Model theory applied. Data analyzed content analysis approach. results found Perceived Susceptibility and Severity constructs, respondents believed they would be susceptible hyperglycemia, will worsen if are not devoted using antidiabetic medicines. Benefit construct shows maintaining health. Respondents' Barrier revealed laziness disregarded taking medications obstacles. Their strong get healthy represents Cues Action trigger Finally, selfEfficacy exposed respondents' confidence beliefs on Susceptibility, Severity, Benefit, Actions Self-Efficacy help adhere which believe provides an obstacle adhering
